Hi, I am a Syrian high school student in Turkey. I started to work when I was 13 in a garment factory to provide for my family. My father cannot work due to his illness so my brother and I were working for our family. One day MUDEM workers came to our factory and conducted interviews with all workers including me. During our conversation, they asked if I am going to school or not and I replied that I couldn’t but I really wanted to continue my education. In the same day, MUDEM talked with our factory owner about my education. MUDEM and the brand that my workshop produces for supported me to leave work and start education at home until I got my temporary protection ID. My family and I applied for registration as not having IDs was an obstacle for me to go to school and meanwhile I started to take private lessons such as Turkish with the support of MUDEM officers. Private lessons took 6 months and at the end of 6 months we received our temporary protection IDs. During this period, MUDEM closely followed my progress closely and we have noticed that I am capable of studying fashion design. I was so happy that MUDEM supported me to enroll in a fashion drawing course until I started school. I completed the course program and I started attending high school following semester. Now my biggest dream is to be a fashion designer for the brand whose factory I worked at and who supported me by providing scholarship for me.
