Three neighborhood children go to school instead of work

When MUDEM first met with 3 Syrian children friends from same neighborhood, they were working at a garment factory to provide additional income for their families. After the brand’s inspection in the factory, three children were immediately removed from the workshop. After that, MUDEM visited the families of 3 children at home and informed them about the process for child workers. During this visit, MUDEM tried to convince the families that child labor affects the child’s developmental process negatively. They explained that especially garment work is too heavy for children and the best interest of the child is in attending school and letting them be children again. At first, the families were not persuaded as they would face an income loss but, they were convinced after they were told that the brand will cover the children’s education fees and MUDEM will continue to support them. MUDEM and ASAM supported one of the children to obtain an ID as they did not apply for it before. Now, all of them have completed the 9th grade and they are very successful.
